Renaissance Woman | ||
|
What a marvelous talent this woman has! She's just one of those creative people who can morph from actress to singer, from comedy to drama... There are a couple of new Hattie Winston collectibles on eBay that leave an impression of great versatility!
A Hattie Winston dance record (!!!) with "Pass Me By" on side A and "Pictures Don't Lie" on side B. It looks like it's dated 1962. Hattie was just 17 years old at the time, but she was living in New York with a girlfriend and trying to make it big! The opening bid on this item is 250 pounds --- or about 450 US dollars. ![]() ![]() In 1994, Hattie narrated an audio book by Terry McMillan - Mama - a much less expensive way of getting your fix! ![]() You can find both items at www.ebay.com by running a search on "Hattie Winston." |

2005 Radio Interview | ||
|
I happened across a lengthy radio interview Hattie Winston did on 6/14/2005 with the host of what is probably a satellite radio show, "Show Me the Business!" She does talk a bit about how she considers herself an entrepreneur and that she "diversifies" by developing her talents in producing, directing, writing, singing, and acting. It's a fun piece to listen to! You can find it at this link:
voice.voiceamerica.com/ez...on_6_14_05 Just select the format that works with your computer (I used Real Player). Hattie talks about meeting her husband, Harold Wheeler. She looks back at her time on Becker and mentions why she was so proud to land the role of Margaret. Hattie also discusses the musical she's written, "Slave Narratives," which is based on the 1930s WPA interviews with former slaves and is scored by spirituals. Hattie's working on a memoir, too! Homefront is mentioned only in passing, but it is the only other television show Hattie references. I'm guessing that it stands out in her experience as one of her favorite pieces of work on screen. It'll be great to read what she has to say about Homefront in her memoir. Does anybody know if it's out yet? |

TV Debut - "Who's Watching the Kids" (1978)
|
AAaaahhhhh, the '70s! Disco was hot, the networks ruled the airwaves, and a nine-year-old girl named Tammy Lauren made her debut on the silver screen.
Who's Watching the Kids was a sitcom produced by Garry Marshall that aired on Friday nights at 8:30. Tammy played a little girl named Melissa Turner who lived in Las Vegas with her sister, Stacy (Caren Kaye). Stacy was a showgirl and she and Melissa shared an apartment with a co-worker, Angie (Lynda Goodfriend), and Angie's younger brother, Frankie (Scott Baio). Melissa and Frankie needed a sitter and one of the people who filled that role was the building handyman, Bert (Jim Belushi --- in his television debut). The program aired for only three months. It was cancelled in December 1978. How could it have survived? It was airing opposite Donny & Marie and Wonder Woman! You can see - if you squint a bit! - two pages of thumbnail-sized screen captures from an episode of Who's Watching the Kids. Tammy is seriously adorable. And check out how long her ponytail is! www.dreamstarlets.com/lob...wkids.html |

Kelly's Official Website is under Construction
|
I think Jessica Steen and Mimi Kennedy are the only other Homefront cast members with official websites... but Kelly's is on the way. The only page up yet is the main page.
www.kelly-rutherford.com/ Antwort: Internet, a German firm, is designing the site. |

"Man in the Chair" (2007)
![]() Mimi Kennedy's latest project has been the role of "Mom" in Man in the Chair, a new film still awaiting release. "Mom" is the single mother of Cameron Kincaid, a 17-year-old film buff who longs to become a filmmaker. When Cameron enters a competition for a scholarship to film school, he recruits a group of retired film crew --- now residents of a rundown Hollywood nursing home --- to help him make a documentary. Michael Angarano plays Cameron. Christopher Plummer plays Flash Madden, who was once employed as a gaffer on the set of Citizen Kane... and is the only surviving member of that crew! ![]() There's a wonderful review posted at this next link by somebody who must have seen a rough cut of the movie. They've actually called this film the "dark horse" for the Academy Awards next year!!! Check out the bit about Mimi's work below... movies.monstersandcritics.com/reviews/article_1176428.php/Movie_Review__Man_in_the_Chair The story is centered on Angarano's "Cameron Kincaid," a 17-year old kid who flirts with the law, underachieves at school, is at odds with his loving mother and his constantly indifferent and derisive stepfather, "Floyd", played pitch perfect by Mimi Kennedy and Mitch Pileggi, respectively. |

Giuliana on the Stage | ||
|
From January 21 to February 15, 2004, Giuliana Santini was a member of the cast of Kalighat, a play written and directed by Paul Knox and
staged by the South Asian League of Artists in America at the Rose Nagelburg Theatre in New York City.
Giuliana played a Canadian woman named Sydney who's volunteering as one of Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity. Here's an excerpt from the SALAAM website that describes the story: Set in Mother Teresa's home for the dying in Calcutta, this full-length environmental ensemble play (with a cast of 23 actors) follows the journey of a group of Western volunteers and the lives of the nuns and patients who inhabit Kalighat, and explores issues of cross-cultural communication, disparity, the essence of service and the intersection of sexuality and religion set against a realistic backdrop of terminal poverty. www.salaamtheatre.org/kalighat2004.html Reviews www.iaac.us/Iaac%20Winter%20Fest/review4.htm www.theatermania.com/content/news.cfm?int_news_id=4320 *************************** Giuliana is also a Charter Member of the TrapDoor Ensemble, a Los Angeles theater company organized in 2004. www.trapdoorensemble.org/4436.html *************************** On July 31, 2006, Giuliana played the roles of Detective Jan O'Bryan and Susie in a reading of the play Interrogations at the Barrow Street Theater in New York. The reading was hosted by SAKHI - an organization committed to ending domestic violence against South Asian women. Written by South Asian playwrights, "Interrogations" is the story of a Boston doctor who kills his wife and then himself. www.sakhi.org/change/pastevents.php

that sounds cute. its interesting to see where Tammy went from in her career and to look where she is now doing a soap opera and never once stepping away from her roots as a child star (which is good to keep with you when ur kids want to pursue the acting bussiness). i hope that her career continues
to skyrocket!! :
