I love the series Cold Case (one of the few that I make a point to watch anymore!) and this Sunday's episode is a 1940's themed one! It apparently is about a female newspaper reporter (think our very own Linda Metcalf!) who is murdered around 1945.
I'm looking forward to it, it's the second 1940's one that they've done. Bethany and I were talking several months ago about the first one, it was about a female worker at a war plant who was murdered (what's the deal with only WOMEN being murdered in the 40's in this series?!?!?
). In that one you were sort of hammered over the head over and over by the overuse of slang from that era, the continual patriotic references, etc, etc that OK PEOPLE< WE'RE IN THE 1940's!!!! It was so different from Homefront where they just took it for granted that you REALIZED that the series was set in the 1940's and went from there. I know it's not fair to compare the 2 because Cold Case only has a hour to establish a setting while Homefront had 2 years but I think it'll be interesting to watch the upcoming episode of Cold Case and see if they do the same thing.
