Wednesday December 30th (31st), 1952: Rosamond, Hugh (McGuire -
Rosamond’s second husband) and Hughie came to Watertown. Rosamond came
down to see us -- told us about the wedding.
GOOD BYE TO A NICE YEAR, 1952.
Minnie records the events in her life on this final day of 1952. She must have absent-mindedly written the date as "30" instead of "31." Rosamond and her husband, Hugh (or Hughie, as he was called in the family, perhaps to his chagrin) took a trip into Watertown. [According to Minnie, Hugh McGuire is Rosamond's second husband.] Probably later in the day, Rosamond visits with Minnie and, perhaps William and Doris to tell about her wedding to Hugh. Minnie closes out the last day of 1952, saluting it as "a nice year."
Minnie's 1952 diary is her last known complete diary of her day-to-day observations before she left this world in 1954 to pass into heavenly glory. Judging from a read through Minnie's previous diaries beginning in the late 1800s, she led a full and rewarding life, a life which was strengthened and enriched by her abiding faith in God. And what a tragedy it is that some of her diaries and, perhaps other writings have been lost to current, and future descendants of the Conklin Family.

Entertainment & The Arts.....Hank Williams dies
on his way to at the age of only 29 years while on his way to a concert. He is found dead in the back seat of a Cadillac that is literally filled with drugs and alcohol. [To the present day, this deadly mix of drugs and alcohol continues to be the scourge of Hollywood and the celebrity world, in general.]
