As I was casting about on that modern-day marvel, the Internet, I came across some artifacts of the WW2
homefront. These were items or products that the average civilian John, or Jane Q Public might have seen/used/encountered in daily life during the war. Below,
I've posted some of them. I plan on adding to this thread, from time to time.
^This poster may have been seen on storefront windows, the walls of factory and office breakrooms, on telephone poles, and other conspicuous places around town. No doubt, posters such as this one, reminded the average person of the importance of pitching in and doing his/her part, in different ways, in order to help support the war effort at home.
^I can just imagine Swing-shift Maisie putting up her hair with these pins before heading off to work at the local aircraft factory....
^What the well-dressed secretary/office clerk wore in 1942....that is, if she was adventurous enough to make her own clothing!
