Morning cool and partly cloudy. Temp at GHS 62F at 6:34AM. Morning sky streaked with mare's tail cirrus, degenerating into cirrostratus. God's paintbrush again at work. No human hand, try as it might, can surpass, or even equal the artistry of the Creator and Author of All.
Karl and I volunteered at church pantry this morning. Shower van from mission was present as usual. Hot lunch also served. Morning slow for 1st hour, or so. God busier an hour before lunch. My left hip bothering me. So, had to take frequent rests on back porch. Spoke with Leanor, who joined me on occasion. Found out she is almost 64 years old! Very surprised, as she looks not much older than me. Said she was born in 1946. Told her she was born in the middle of Big Band/Swing era. Said she likes the music of the era, at which point we began to talk about the bands, singers, etc. of that time. Her favorite vocal group the Andrews Sisters and their hit song, "Boogy Woogy Bugle Boy Of Company B." It was a high-point in my day.
Came home to find 3 messages on answering machine. Two from Ingrid. Said Kurt again in hospital - this time in Hollywood. Is there because of a head injury he sustained over a week ago when he fell down stairway at motel, where he was staying. Hopefully, his condition won't be serious; head injuries nothing to trifle with, as any doctor will tell. Doctors also indicated he may need another bypass operation. Is still eating food that was cause for his first bypass surgery. Was eating a Domino's pizza when Ingrid called his room two weeks ago. Some things never change. After release, he may well end up in independent living care facility, as he is alone. Ingrid and I unable to take him in, due to our own economic difficulties, and space considerations. So sad for a man who's onle 42 years old.
Pres. Obama visited Pope Benedict XVI. Just landed in African nation of Ghana today.
