Had light rain between 7 and 9AM. None of this was predicted in yesterday's weather forecast. Remained cool, breezy and cloudy for much of the day, with alittle sun in early afternoon. More clouds coming on as I write this. High only in mid-70s. Took Margaret to Ralph's for her weekly shopping. Erika called today. Said Mark's aunt went to Walmart and bought a stroller and car seat for the baby. Margaret and I are comforted to know that Erika and Mark are getting help in acquiring all they'll need for the baby, when it arrives. Said her feet now hurt if she stands in one place for too long. Bought padded slippers so she can stand on kitchen floor while washing dishes. Talked to Ingrid last night. Said she finally heard from Kurt. Said he was laid up for awhile, as he gashed his head after falling down a dark stairwell in the motel, where he is staying. Kevin left early this morning on Boyscout camping trip. Will be back tomorrow afternoon. Kevin is a scoutmaster for the local troop. Both my nephews became Eagle Scouts. Will ride tomorrow morning up to Ft. Tejon with Pete. He'll also bring his son and grandson. As a result, we'll have an ample Provost Guard in the Union Brigade camp.

Was picked up by Pete for Ft. Tejon. His son and grandson sat behind us in Petes big Dodge extended cab pickup truck. The ride up was very easy. The morning sun guilded the serrated mountain ridges, which cast their craggy shadows across broad open spaces, interspersed with roadside businesses, etc. When arriving at the Fort, we noticed that Major Hiestand's commodious wall tent was conspicuous by its absence. However, the less well appointed headquarters of Col. Crebs, our brigade commander, were situated next to the encampment of the Co. D, 4th US Infantry. Col. Crebs welcomed us whole-heartedly, very much elated at our arrival in camp. As we arrived after Morning Formation, he was concerned that he might have to survive the day without a Provost staff. Weather at the Fort was clear, breezy and comfortable - not at all what one might expect in June. The cool mountain breeze mitigated any discomfort created by the brilliant sunshine. The turnout in reenactors on both sides, was better than in April. As a result, our skirmishes were more audience-captivating. We fielded slightly more men than did the Confederate Brigade. But, they brought up an artillery battery with a 10lb. Parrot gun. We staged our full compliment of three "battles." We won the first skirmish, while the second was a Confederate victory, as they drove back our infantry with their Parrot Rifle, and a flanking movement of their dismounted Cavalry. The third skirmish was a draw - as is often the plan. Aside from infantry, our ranks were complimented by the presence of the "California Hundred" dismounted cavalry. While at the Fort, I met a visiting reenactor who was also wearing a VRC (Veteran Reserve Corps) shell jacket. He was just as surprised to see me, as I, him. Had a friend with him, who wants to represent VRC at the Fort. Told him that we on staff would like to have VRC, as they could free up combat units so they wouln't have to assist with Provost duty, and other non-combatant duties. Gave him my phone # and e-mail address. My time up at Ft. Tejon was very rejuvenating and refreshing. Felt much better. I believe this was due to the fresher mountain air, as well as, the good company of many long-time friends. We are all looking forward to the August Invitational, when we'll meet many more old friends. More trouble in Iran, as protesters are met with violence from hard-line dictatorial Achmedinejad government. A young woman was shot in the head by state police. She has become a martyr and galvanizing symbol for the unrelenting protesters. Pres. Obama finally issuing unequivocal statement in support of protesters. Iran situation very volatile. PETA raising fuss over Pres. Obama swatting a fly during recent interview. Enjoyed Obama's humor in the situation. PETA insists Obama should've caught and released the fly. While I don't often agree with Pres. Obama, I give him my full support in this matter! It was only a FLY! Billions of the germ-and disease-carrying things are born every minute. Therefore, Pres. Temp at GHS 59F at 6:35AM. Pleasant morning walk. Air scented with crisp, dry summer foliage. Drove Karl to his last day of school. Traffic on roads almost non-existent. Margaret caught her bus to work. Though, she wished she could've stayed home. At least, she had a short day, as I picked her up to take her to Kaiser for her neurology EMG appt. Traffic very light when I left at 12:20PM to pick up Margaret from work. Drive to Kaiser in Panorama City very easy. No one else in the neurology waiting room when we checked in for Margaret's appt. Margaret got in earlier, as previous appt. never showed. Margaret was finished in 45 minutes. EMG revealed nothing wrong with nerves and muscle reaction, coordination, etc. Doctor so far, at a loss to pinpoint Margaret's complaint. Doctor now wants to schedule an MRI of Margaret's neck, and possibly, her brain, to see if the trouble lies in either of those places. This will be in approx. two weeks. Hopefully, through process of elimination, they will find the cause of her problem. Karl was glad to be finally done with school for the year. Last three days have been very boring, as all classwork and finals were done. More violence today in Iran between protesters and Republican Guards. North Korea continues to defy USA and UN. USS John McCain shadowing N. Korean cargo ship. Weather today clear, breezy and sunny. High mid-80sF. A plesant summer day to spend in the park.

Temp at GHS 57F at 6:35AM. Sun came out by 8:30AM. Erika called today to wish me a belated Happy Fathers Day. Said she was too busy to call on Sunday or yesterday. Also said she's sending us photos of herself, so we can see that she really is pregnant. At any rate, it'd be nice to see pics of Erika, as we've not seen her in more than a year. Threw some skulls this morning: went to bank, got gas, and went to Ralph's for some emergency items. Gas prices remaining steady, so far. Terrible train collision yesterday in Washington D.C. Iran regime continues severe crackdown on protesters. Neda, the girl who was shot in cold blood, now a martyr and symbol for freedom. Demonstrators in US in support of Iran protesters wearing signs saying "I Am Neda." Saw a graphic Internet video of Neda's murder. It is indeed, heart-rending.Weather clear, but cooler and breezier. High in low-80sF.

Temp at GHS 57F at 6:35AM. Threw two skulls this morning: Went to Walmart in Porter Ranch to buy some necessities. Karl also needed a few things there. Then, went to Kaiser Pharmacy down the street to pick up Margaret's diamox refill; now in generic form, which is much cheaper. She also gets a full month's worth, as well. Also picked up her new prescription of nerve pain medication "norpress." Her neurologist has determined that she has spinal stenosis. Had my haircut early this morning after Margaret left for work. Clashes continue in Iran between protesters and state police guards. Noth Korea threatening war if we interfere with its cargo ship, which we have been shadowing. Kim Jong Il even threatened that he would "wipe the USA off the face of the earth." Mobile defense interceptor missiles being sent to Hawaiian Islands. World situation very volatile, at present. Stock Market up slightly today. Pres. Obama tries to sell his socialist healthcare plan tonight on ABC network. Weather warmer today. "June Gloom" didn't start to clear until late morning. High in upper-80sF.

Temp at GHS 57F at 6:38. While on my morning walk, found a pigeon on the sidewalk in distress. He had apparently fallen from his nest high up in the triangular sign by the entrance to the 7 - 11 by the Shell station. As we have a pet pigeon, I have a soft spot for those of God's creatures that most call "rats with wings." The poor fellow made pitiful chirping sounds, like a youngling, though he was fully feathered out as an adult. He was perhaps trying to fly. I picked him up and cradled the trembling little guy and stroked him gently. He held his head to one side, and his beak open. I could find no outward injuries. His parents were staring down at me with their white noses from their lofty perch. At first, I was in a quandary, as to what I should do with him; I certainly didn't want to leave him on the sidewalk. After some deliberation, I decided to set him on top of the newly trimmed hedge that flanked the signpole. It was my hope that Momma and Poppa Pigeon would minister to him after I took my leave. Making little effort to struggle against me, the shaken little pigeon lay quietly on top of the hedge. This is a busy place, as there is also a busstop. I made up my mind to double back around on my way home to make sure he was alright. When I returned, he was still on top of the hedge. I so wanted to take him home and nurse him back to health. But, we have no place to keep him. I was also afraid he'd die without his parents to take care of him. I did notice that one of his parents were watching from a wire on the telephone pole at the edge of the sidewalk. I hope I won't find him dead when I return that way on my walk tomorrow morning. Actress Farrah Fawcett passed away from cancer this morning. Also, famous pop singer, Michael Jackson, died suddenly of cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead at 3:15PM, PDT at UCLA Medical Center. Karl had MRI this morning at Northridge diagnostic, to have his pituitary gland checked for any tumors. This, in conjunction with his thyroid. Threw two skulls afterward: dropped mail at Post Office. Then, went to Ralph's as Karl wanted to bake a cake for my birthday. What a son! I also bought some mint and chocolate chip ice cream - my favorite. Weather slightly cooler today. Sun broke through clouds by 10AM. We have now lost three celebrities this week, including famous Johnny Carson Show host, Ed McMahan. He served as a Marine fighter-pilot in WW2 and Korea. I must say that I've had happier birthdays. Never has there been so much death connected with it, except perhaps on Sunday June 25th, 1876 in Montana. All in all, not a happy day.

Temp at GHS 59F at 6:35. Looked for the pigeon I tried to help yesterday morning. He was not on the sidewalk, or on top of the hedge, where I left him. I checked all around the hedge and sidewalk. He was nowhere to be seen. Hopefully, he received succor from his parents and regained his strength. Body of Michael Jackson undergoing lengthy autopsy. There is talk that he received injection of pain-killer before he went into cardiac arrest. There is a possibility that heads will roll after autopsy report is complete. Celebrity Liza Minnelli said that it's good that Jackson's fans are honring him and celebrating his life now, for soon "all hell is gonna break loose." Important vote in Congress today on Pres. Obama's "Global Warming" bill. No one in Congress has even read this 1500 page bill, which could drive small businesses out of business, cost jobs that will be sent overseas, drive up energy costs and raise taxes, control our lives in ways we've never imagined, and ruin our national economy, in general. Cleverly, Obama and his supporters put this bill to vote on a Friday. Then, they'll go on vacation - how about that? Big Hawaiian "lu-ou" held at White House. More than 600 lbs. of roasted pig were served. - A fitting meal for Washington politicians, who can't seem to get enough pork! Karl and I volunteered at church pantry from 10AM to 1PM. Showed Karl how to fill grocery requests from our clients. Not quite as many clients as last week. Stopped at Jon's Market on way home. Heard their service deli had German coldcuts. Found out this is true. And the prices are much cheaper than at the Van Nuys German Deli. Though, Jon's doesn't have the same variety. Weather clear and warmer. High about 90F. Ran usual shopping errand with Margaret to Ralph's. Nothing else going on today. Erika called again today. Wanted to speak to her mother regarding pregnancy issues. Also heard from Ingrid. Said she'll be in church tomorrow. We spoke on the phone for at least, an hour as she filled me in on the latest regarding Kurt. He came by her house the other day. Ingrid said he looks terrible, and that he has put on weight around the middle again. His palor is glazed and gaunt. No doubt, he has reverted to his old unhealthy eating habits, despite the warnings from his doctor. I suppose that triple bypass surgery has taught him nothing. At present, he is again unemployed. Social Security has told him to stop working, as they are concerned about his shaky health, and his habit of injuring himself when living alone in motel rooms, which are draining what little of the finances he has. He is now contemplating living in an assisted living facility, which would be for the best, not just for Kurt, but for ALL of us. Kurt is only 42 years old. Such a pity for someone his age to be in such bad health. Am having trouble remembering that I'm another year older. Still telling people I'm 52, instead of 53. Last Thursday, I indulged my self on my birthday by buying my favorite flavor of ice cream: mint and chocolate chip. Then, in remembrance of General Custer (June 25th, 1876), I whistled the Gary Owen, the regimental song of the 7th Cavalry since the Civil War. Weather hot; low-90sF. Tomorrow hotter still. Went to church by myself, as Karl woke up with runny nose and headache. Sat with Ingrid in church. Gave her DVD copy of Erika's ultrasound, and copies of Erika's pics. Was very impressed with pics of Erika. Pastor Barth absent this morning, as he was away to attend a Synod convention of the Pacific Southwest District in Irvine. Pastor Barth and Cliff Horn, Head Elder serving as our delegates. Church attendence less than usual, as many were away for the LWML Convention in Portland, OR. Pastor Priesz officiating at this morning's service. His sermon: "We Are Made Alive In Christ." Text based on Gospel Lesson Mark 5:21-43. as well as, Ephesians 2:1-10. Came directly home after church. Spent quiet day. Famous TV pitchman, Billy Mays, found dead in his Florida home. Weather clear and very hot today. High in uppper-90sF. Sunshine bright, almost blinding as I walked toward Zelzah Ave. Temp at GHS 66F at 6:35AM. Drove Margaret to work. Not much traffic, now that school is out. It is also indicative of the high unemployment rate we now face, here in the valley. Stock Market up 68pts today. Obama Administration pushing "global warming" legislation after climate change bill passed the House 219 to 212. Fortunately, the bill will have a much rougher time in the Senate, and is predicted by some to die there. Work continues around our complex today, as it has for sometime. Scaffolding went up again in front of our living room window on Friday. Fancy stone tiles being layed in entrance lobby. Weather hot and clear, except for altocumulus puffs in the morning, and afternoon, joined by altostratus. High in upper-90sF.

Threw two skulls - did banking and went to Ralph's to buy coffee and some other items we ran out of. Much noisy work continuing around the complex. More pillars going up in front of the building. Guess they thought we didn't have enough! Workmen also installing gaudy plaster mouldings around doors. Airliner crashed into ocean near Comoros off coast of Africa. Of more than 150 passengers, only 5yr. old boy said to survive, found floating in ocean. Minnesota Supreme Court declares Al Franken winner of Senate election in that state. Franken a far left idealogue. Celebration in Iraq as US forces pull out of Iraqi cities, handing them over Iraqi security forces. Day declared national holiday in Iraq, of independence. As much as Obama Administration doesn't wish to admit it, it is the accomplishment of the former Geo. Bush Administration. Price of oil dropped to $69/bbl. Stock Market dropped over 82pts today. Weather partly cloudy, hot and humid. High in low 90sF.

Sunny, with some middle and high clouds. Temp at GHS 64F at 6:34AM. Stock Market up again today by 57pts. Strange movements by North Korean ship being watched by US Navy. Was to dock in Myanmar port. However, Myanmar government told N. Korean ambassador ship denied permission to dock, if carrying prohibited materials. N. Korean ship then turned and changed course. Opposition mounting among Democrats in Senate, and elsewhere, to Pres. Obama's healthcare plan, as well as, his far-reaching "Cap-and-tax" global warming bill. Information has now surfaced that EPA suppressed a report presenting scientific evidence that global warming not caused by man-caused induction of Co2 into atmosphere. And, that world temps have actually FALLEN, and will continue to fall till 2030. There is talk that an investingation may ensue. Weather sunny, breezy, and mostly clear. High about 90F.

Temp at GHS 66F at 6:34AM. Drove Margaret to work as her pain meds made her alittle sleepier than usual. Karl came along as we were going to throw a couple of skulls afterward. Got gas at Food 4 Less. Then we went to Target, and Ralph's for "pre-shopping." More noise around the complex as worker continue installing those Greco-Roman mouldings around all our doors, etc. They don't work in a very organized fashion, these contractors. Rather than completing a certain task, they'll stop and start a new one. Then, they'll go back to the previous unfinished task. There is no rhyme or reason to their methods. Pres. Obama's approval numbers beginning to slip downward, as more Americans grow concerned over his policies of big spending and unprecedented proposed taxation to support them. Also, some mainstream media members becoming dismayed at the tight-fisted control the press is subjected to during press conferences and town hall meetings. They are asking, "where's the transparency?" Some have predicted that the press's "honeymoon" with Pres. Obama would come to an end by mid-summer. Is this now happening? Stock Market plunged more than 223pts after announcement of latest jobless figures - the highest in 26 years. Pres. Obama claims his "stimulus" spending is working. If it really is, would somebody please tell me WHERE? It sure isn't working where I live. California running out of money. Sacramento now issuing I.O.U.s to state employees, welfare recipients, college students, etc. Yesterday, our sales tax rate went up to 9.75%. The politicians are to blame for our financial disaster. Yet WE are the ones who pay. N. Korea becoming belligerent again. More missiles test-fired today. Michael Jackson drama continues as DEA gets involved, confiscating bags of drugs from Neverland Ranch. His doctors now under suspicion. It is now said that Jackson was hooked on several different pain meds, etc. during the time leading up to his death. Weather hotter and more humid today. High in mid-90sF.

Had some stomach trouble last night. Better this morning. Went with Karl to volunteer at our church pantry. Pantry closed at 1PM, due to holiday. Mission that provides hot lunches and shower truck, did not come today. Not as many clients as usual, probably due to holiday. Though we still filled 14 grocery requests. These homeless shadows of humanity are very mercurial individuals who live by their own rules. They seem to exist on the very fringes of civilized human society. Some of them are in a very wretched state, with little or no personal hygiene observed. It is hard for me to imagine living in such a condition. Each one of them were once a mother's dear child. And one must wonder what traumatic adversity or tragedy transpired in their lives to bring them to such a low and ignominious estate. Governor Sarah Palin today, made surprise announcement that she will not seek re-election as Governor of Alaska. Weather clear, hot, and humid today. High, once again, in lower 90sF. Was nice to come home to air-conditioned apartment. Rest of the day spent peacefully at home.

Ran shopping errand to Ralph's with Margaret. Store rather crouded because of the holiday. Erika called today. Said she was waiting to be picked up by Mark's parents. Going to parking lot of Lowe's, where Mark works. He had to work today. They all plan to watch fireworks in the parking lot at Lowe's. Spoke to Ingrid today, also. Does not plan on attending church tomorrow. We spoke on many subjects. Church services combined into one at 9:30AM. Volunteers in Human Care Ministry (Pantry) will be honored at the service. Last time I received a polo shirt and $20. As Karl and I have been volunteering at the pantry, we'll be there. No doubt, Pastor will preach a patriotic, moving and inspirational sermon based on the July 4th holiday, and of course, Scripture. This year can be called the year without a 4th of July, here in LA County. Because of the California budget crisis, which has reached to the county, many park celebrations have been cancelled. This evening, it was strangely quiet. Northridge Park cancelled its 4th of July carnival and fireworks celebration. From our south-facing 2nd floor vantage, I could make out only one fireworks show far in the distance toward the hills. I presume this fireworks show took place in Reseda Park. Though it was low on the horizon, I watched the entire pyrotechnic display, as it was the only one I was likely to see in celebration of our nation's 233rd birthday. N. Korea marked our national holiday by launching several more test missiles as a taunt. Weather clear and hot all day. High reached 95F.

Pantry Volunteer Recognition Sunday. Pastor Barth's sermon titled "Life In Christ Means To Love." Text based on gospel of John 10:11-21, and NT Book of 1 John 3:16-19. Very patriotic service, as it was 4th of July weekend. We recited Pledge of Allegiance and sang National Anthem. Hymns sung today, were: "God Of Grace And God Of Glory," "Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise," "Lord Of All Nations, Grant Me Grace," "Go, My Children, With My Blessing" (to the English tune of "Men Of Harlick"). After service, Karl and I stopped in north parish hall for recognition of pantry volunteers. We had cake and coffee, juice, etc. The Ambuehls sat down at our table. Haven't seen them since we attended Our Savior Lutheran in Granada Hills. Said they joined Our Redeemer because of Pastor Barth and our very live outreach ministry and support of missions. Found out our pantry is supported by Jewish organizations, as well as, many others, both religious and secular. Afterward went to Ralph's to pick up a couple of things we forgot yesterday. Spent peaceful day at home. Weather clear and hot - mid-90sF. Our weather has been samey and boring for the last several days. Wish we, at least, had a thunderstorm now and then, such as what Erika experiences in Florida on regular basis. I will reprint our opening responsive church liturgy, as I found it soul-stirring. LOVE MUST BE PRACTICAL Pastor: We begin our time together this day in the Name of the God who has had mercy on us in our great need, the FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT. Amen. People: The Lord asked Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" "I don't know," he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?" (Genesis 4:9) Pastor: If there is poor among your brothers in the land the Lord your God gives you, do not be hard-hearted or tight-fisted. Rather, be open-handed and freely give. But, if we obey His word, God's love is truly made complete in us. This is how we know we are in God: Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did. (1 John 2:4-6) Pastor: Anyone who claims to live in the light, but hates his brother, is still in the darkness. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light. (1 John 2:9-10) People: This is Christ's command: to believe in the Name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to Love ona another as he commanded us. Those who obey his commands live in Him, and He lives in them. (1 John 3:23-24) Pastor: Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Whoever does not love, does not know God. For God is love. God showed Hos love among us: he sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. People: This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loves us and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. (1 John 4:7-11) Pastor: We love because God first loved us. If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. He has given us this command: Whoever loves God must love his brother also. (1 John 4:19-21) People: Dear Father, we come before you this day and praise you for your great love for us by sending your Son into this world as our Savior and Redeemer. Motivate us by your love to love one another, especially those in need. Threw one skull this morning; went to bank to do banking I couldn't do on Saturday, as bank was closed for 4th of July. Stock Market up 44pts today. Just learned California now has a "water czar"! Our government seems to have gone "czar-crazy." There's a "czar" for almost everything, these days. And, what is scary is that many of these czars haven't a clue about the task they've been handed. For instance, the "car czar" knows nothing about the auto industry! If we continue at this rate, we'll be up to our eyebrows in czars! Czars don't answer to the people, as they aren't elected. They are semi-autonomous bureaucrats who answer only to the President. I ask, is this democracy? Robert McNamara dies at 93. Has been called, "Face of the Viet Nam War." Lucky few who won ticket lottery for Michael Jackson's memorial lined up at Chavez Ravine to claim their tickets. Jackson's memorial to be held tomorrow. Weather clear and hot again. Democrats in Congress already planning to appoint yet another "czar" to run our lives, should Pres. Obama's nationalized healthcare plan pass thru Congress. In my dictionary, a "czar" is defined as an Emperor, and a man with great power. My feeling is that, if all this "czar lunacy" continues, our great American Republic will turn into a socialist state under the guise of democracy. We The People need to head this off before it happens. Obama Administration admits it "made a mistake" about the seriousness of the current recession. Also entertaining possibility of issuing yet another "stimulus." Still waiting for the last two to work! Stock Market fell more than 161pts today. Pop singer Michael Jackson's private and public memorials held today. Cost to LA County taxpayers: $4 million! This at a time when we can least afford it. Al Franken sworn into US Senate today. Is now symbolic 60th Democrat to override any Republican fillibuster. Work continues around our complex today. Can't wait till it's all done. So far, the best things they've done around here, is to improve the lighting, and add surveillence cameras. Weather clear, sunny, breezy, and slightly cooler.

Obama Administration hypocrisy: Obama's two "car czars" supposed to build up GM to manufacture "green" cars for us to drive. Yet they drive Lincoln Town Cars, Audis, Lexus, and Mercedes cars, which are gas-gulpers. Where is the support for the American auto industry? Shouldn't these "czars" be leading the way by setting personal examples? Is it right for a Sundayschool teacher to teach her students "Thou Shalt Not Steal," then go out and shoplift? Stock Market up slightly at 14.81pts. Gas prices coming down over the last few days. Saw $2.75/gal. yesterday afternoon at Food 4 Less. Fire burning in the Sepulveda Pass, threatening Getty Art Museum, and upscale Belaire Estates. First wildfire of the year. Had a very surreal surprise on the way to Margaret's work this afternoon. As I waited at the intersection of Woodley and Roscoe, I suddenly became aware of the sound of a very old-sounding car engine - certainly nothing modern. When I looked to my right, I saw that a Ford Model A - probably a 1930 or 1931 model - had pulled up next to me. It was in beautiful condition and was two-tone in color, brown and black. It was a surreal experience as I was reading my first Homefront fanfic story earlier today, in which the two main characters in the story, rent a Ford Model A while visiting Old River Run. And this car was of the exact same body-type I had imagined in my story. When the signal turned green, I kept the old car in my rearview mirror, as the driver couldn't go as fast as the rest of the traffic. The car was in showroom condition. A waterbag hung from the radiator ornament, as would've been common practice in hot weather in the old days. Weather breezy and cooler, with hazy sunshine caused by high clouds and smoke from fire south of us. There is a dirty tan-orange cast over everything outside. Some high clouds overhead. Fog in LA Basin. Temp at GHS 60F at 6:34AM. Morning walks certainly peaceful since school year ended. Threw two skulls with Karl this morning: Did pre-shopping at Walmart to buy needful things cheaper than at Ralph's. Bought Glenn Beck's book "Common Sense." Also picked up Margaret's diabetes meds at Kaiser pharmacy in Porter Ranch. Stock Market made modest gain of 4.14pts today. Bought gas at corner ARCO. Paid $2.79/gal. Gas prices still falling. Hopefully, this trend will continue. Job huinting, these days, an exercise in frustration. I've all but given up. Hardly any jobs available in the Valley. Never seen it this bad. Tax revenues falling as more people here, are thrown out of work. Another train accident involving Amtrak near Detroit, MI. Five people dead. Weather sunny, breezy, and slightly cooler.
