Wm. and Doris went after my new glasses this P.M. and think they are going to be fine. Russians are still fighting German invaders.
I can't get over how quick the turnaround is at Will Morgan's. I can't get new glasses in 2009 in less than a week! He must have had the frames he offered to customers actually in stock and he must have done all the work on the lenses himself... It's been more than a month now since the Germans invaded the Soviet Union. The Battle of Smolensk - another milestone en route to Moscow - had consumed most of July. By the 26th, two Panzer armies concluded the work of capturing the city --- along with approximately 180,000 Red Army soldiers. German operations slowed at this point, as the Nazis worked on stabilizing a chain of supply for their troops and strategized about capturing various Soviet industrial centers. German military leaders insisted to the contrary that a push straight on through to Moscow would be successful.
